About Us

Merritt & Fryers has been trusted by the trades since we started out in 1935. Now based in Skipton, North Yorkshire with a branch in Barnoldswick, we supply our local trades and communities with everything from building supplies, plumbing & heating and timber to decorating, bathroom solutions and bespoke joinery.

We're still family-run and independent to this day and with 90 years experience we pride ourselves on our exceptional level of personal service and product expertise.

Our mission is to get you what you want, when you want it and at a price that is always fair. We pride ourselves on our traditional approach to doing business; one built on building strong relationships. We may think big but we still act small. Each of our branches keep close to the requirements of their local trades and are helped along by our expert team.

By being independent and building lifelong relationships with customers and suppliers we work together to provide the best possible experience for our clients. We know our community needs local and we're here to deliver.

As an independent merchant we're able to be flexible with our product range and agile with our pricing so our products and services meet the needs of our local customers. With a wealth of knowledge on the local trade requirements our teams are on hand to provide product advice and guidance and take the hassle out of getting your materials to site on time and under budget.

Getting your materials couldn't be easier - drop into your nearest branch or plan ahead and use our click and collect service or let us come to you. With a fleet of vans and wagons we're able to deliver your materials directly to site and dropped just where you need them with same day delivery slots available.

We're more than just a merchant. As well as all the materials, tools, equipment and products you'd expect to find at a builders merchant we have specialist departments to help you get the job done.

Some of our branches provide services including paint mixing, timber cutting, brick-matching, kitchen and bathroom design. We also have a sales & contracts team who will be your point of contact for civils, engineered timber, construction takeoffs, self builds and new builds.
