Merritt & Fryers Ltd
"We're not another builders merchant… and that's a good thing."
We are Merritt & Fryers Ltd, proudly serving Skipton, Yorkshire, Lancashire and the whole of the UK for more than ninety years — which is no small feat in the building sector. Birthday cake is always welcomed.
We're proud of what we've achieved, but we often ask ourselves: "Who are we?" The truth is, we have a bit of an identity crisis. But that's great news, because it means we are more than one thing — and our customers love us for it.
Who Are Merritt & Fryers?
Walk into most builders merchants, and you know exactly what to expect: stacks of timber, bags of cement and muddy footprints.
Step into Merritt & Fryers, and you'll still find the essentials — but you'll also discover paint colours, a stunning bathroom showroom, a bespoke joinery workshop and even the right cable for your Sky+ box.
We are the square peg in the round hole of builders merchants, and we love it. Our customers do too. The fact you keep coming back proves it.
Why We're Different
Everything You Need Under One Roof
Merritt & Fryers is your one-stop shop for everything… except an identity. We help your project start and finish — saving you time, sharing our expertise and offering those little extras you didn't know you needed. And yes, the kettle is never far away.
Here's just a taste of what you'll find:
- • Garden supplies for every outdoor project
- • Velux windows — installed or DIY-ready
- • Dulux paint mixing for perfect colour matches
- • Bespoke timber manufacturing for unique builds
- • Plumbing fittings, boilers and complete bathrooms
- • Screws, roofing supplies, bulk bag delivery — and more
We're proud to be both a builder's best friend and the DIY master of Skipton.
90 Years Helping Skipton & Beyond
Imagine coming in for a tin of paint and leaving with the right brushes, filler for that hallway crack and timber for your garden bench — all in one visit. It sounds too good to be true, but that's exactly how we've helped customers for generations.
We've lost count of the homes we've helped build, rooms we've decorated, fences repaired and roofs restored across Yorkshire and Lancashire. Through the good and the tricky, we've built our business on trust, knowledge and that little extra help you don't get everywhere.
Visit Us in Skipton
Whether you're building, painting, planting or just browsing for ideas, pop in and see us. You'll leave with what you came for — and maybe something you didn't expect.
Who Are We, Really?
So who are we? We're everything you need. We're decorators and builders, DIYers and project lovers. We're not going to waste time putting a label on it. You love what we do, and that's exactly how we see the future.
We're Merritt & Fryers — and we're all that Skipton needs.
